Postgame Quotes

Cal Head Coach Ben Braun
"The intensity in this game took a lot out of us. Fatigue set-in in the second half ... some of the guys told me they were tired. Give UCLA credit, they could have quit today, but they didn't. They kept knocking on the door. They are a talented team and they kept on fighting."

"The reserves played well today ... Tashaan Forehan-Kelly and Martin Smith. These guys work hard in practice. We had some tired guys and Richard Midgley was in foul trouble. At any given time, it is important for these guys to know that anyone can be called on to come into the game. Everyone has to be ready to go out anytime."

"We did a good job of keeping people in front of us on defense. In the second half we didn't do as good of a job. Jason Kapono showed us what he's made of. We lost some intensity, but give UCLA credit for coming out in the second half and not giving up."

"Our rebounding was tremendous and we're going to need that on the upcoming road trip. We have worked hard all year long on that."

"Conor Famulener (10 rb, 4 assists) gave us some significant play today. The charge that he took in the middle of UCLA's run was the most significant play of all. That was a huge play and he's done that kind of thing all year long for us."

"Gabriel Hughes had a great game. I've always said that big guys are the slowest to develop and he still needs time. He gave us a great effort and presence today, and he becomes a factor when he does those things."

UCLA Head Coach Steve Lavin
"First twenty minutes, we didn't play well..."

"Cal did a good job in the paint..I really like Cal. Braun should be favored to be Pac10 Coach of the Year. They have overall balance. They play fundamentally sound."

"We've just struggled to find rhythm, and that effects confidence. But they're [UCLA players] a great group to worth with. We haven't played good basketball...we're just struggling."
