No. 3 USC Defeats No. 5 California, 10-5, in MPSF Action

The No. 5 California women's water polo team lost its second match in as many tries against the No. 3 USC Trojans, 10-5, this afternoon in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action at McDonald's Swim Stadium.Bears' redshirt freshman Allison Gold tallied two goals in the loss.
USC's freshman Moriah Van Norman scored four of her team-high five goals in the first half as the Trojans cruised to a 6-0 lead at halftime. The Women of Troy extended its lead to 8-0 before Cal could find the back of the net for its first score of the match.
The Bears outscored USC 4-2 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit. Cal falls to 8-5 overall and 1-2 in MPSF play while the Trojans improve to 13-2 and 6-0 in conference play. With her two goals today, Gold takes over third-place on the scoring list with 10 scores on the year.
Cal travels to San Diego tomorrow, March 15 to take on San Diego State at 11:00 a.m.
