INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Cal's Varsity eight fell to Brown in their heat Friday but advanced to the semifinals with a time of 6:42:06. The race was a photo finish for second with the bears edging Washington by three one-hundreths of a second.

The 2nd Varsity eight turned in a time of 6:52:53 to earn a spot in the finals on Sunday. So did the Varsity 4, which won their heat in a time of 7:35:39.
