California Head Coach Ben Braun

On Stanford's defense:
"I thought they (Stanford) did a real good job in the second half. They did a good job of keeping us from getting second shots and keeping the ball out of Leon's (Powe) hands. We're usually a pretty good team getting offensive rebounds. They also kept an eye on Midgley and kept him from getting many good shots. I thought they did a real good job on defense."

On the emotion of playing on the night Jason Kidd's number was retired:
"We probably came out a little over-hyped at the beginning of the game. It took a little while for us to settle down and play the game. We did a better job in the first half moving the ball. In the second half, we didn't do as effective a job of that. I thought we became a little impatient in the second half with our shot selection."
