BERKELEY, Calif. - California junior Graham Ackerman set a personal record of 9.75 in the vault, as the Golden Bears topped the Stanford Cardinal, 216.625-207.300, Friday night at Haas Pavilion. The Air Force Falcons placed third with a final total of 199.800.

Ackerman led the Bears in the vault and floor exercise (9.50), while fellow senior captain David Eaton led the team in the pommel horse (9.675) and high bar (9.75).

The Bears also got encouraging performances out of freshman Jason Pierce in the high bar (9.05) and senior Michael Ashe in the rings (9.45).

Stanford was led by captain Dan Gill, who vaulted well with a 9.75, tying for first place in the meet with Ackerman. He also scored well on the floor (9.55) and in the pommel horse (9.375).

Jeff Andersen was a bright spot for the Air Force Academy, scoring a 9.25 in rings and a 9.05 in pommel horse.
