Cal Defeats Stanford

BERKELEY, Calif. - Cal upended Stanford for the third time in three tries this season by a final count of 220.050-212.300, on senior night on Friday in Haas Pavilion.

In front of an enthusiastic crowd, Cal's three seniors - Michael Ashe, David Eaton, and Jeremy Dwork - competed in their final meet on campus. Ashe's highest score came in high bar, where he received a 9.250. Eaton's best performance was also in the high bar, where he was awarded a 9.550. Dwork paced the Bears in the rings scoring a team-high 9.350.

The star of the night, however, was junior Graham Ackerman, who continues to shine for the Bears. He finished in first placed in three different events, including the floor execise, where he led the country coming into the meet with an average of 9.533. On Friday night, he bettered that average with a final score of 9.750. Ackerman also received a 9.750 in the high bar and a 9.700 in vault.

Dan Gill of Stanford also had a good meet finishing second overall in three events, with a high score of 9.600 in the high bar.
