The California men's gymnastics team scored a season-high 220.225 points in capturing the 2004 MPSF team title at Stanford. The Golden Bears were able to win the floor exercise (37.850), pommel horse (37.450) and vault (36.900). Cal will now try to take the momentum of tonight's team competition into tomorrow's individual session, in which the Bears have several individuals bidding for top honors.

The Bears were led by their captains Graham Ackerman and David Eaton, who put on spectacular performances. Eaton posted the highest score in the pommel horse, averaging a 9.550. The senior from Great Britain also picked up third place in the vault (9.400) and parallel bars (8.950).

Ackerman finiished second in three different events, including floor (9.700), vault (9.450), and parallel bars (9.000). Ackerman's 9.700 in the floor exercise nearly tied his career high of 9.750 set early this season.

Cal also received a superb effort from freshman Randall Heflin, who finished second in the all-around competition. His scored of 54.000 was a season high for the Bears. Heflin earned a 9.000 in high bar, 8.550 in rings, 9.500 in pommel horse 8.400 in parallel bars, 9.650 in floor, and an 8.900 in vault. Heflin placed second in pommels and third in the floor exercise.

The Bears look to secure individual titles tomorrow as competition continues from Stanford.
