Berkeley, Calif. -
The Cal men's tennis team (4-9) dropped its third consecutive match, Wednesday, to BYU, 4-3. This marks the fifth 4-3 match the Golden Bears have been involved in this season and the fourth time Cal has fallen on the short end of the decision.
The Bears competed without an injured Wayne Wong, who came into the week leading the team in wins with 13.
Patrick Briaud had a good showing, winning in singles competition over Ivan Roshan, 6-1, 6-2. He also paired with Balazs Veress to pick up their 12th victory of the year, defeating Roshan and Eric Nyman, 8-4.
Veress, individually, was not as lucky, falling to Nyman, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. The loss snaps Veress' six-match win streak, which dates back to Feb. 22.
Freshman Tyler Browne evened his record at 11, by defeating Richard Oasek, 6-2, 6-3. The win ended his mini two-match losing streak.
The Bears continue their homestand Friday, as they host Oregon at 1:30 p.m.
