Cal Defeats Notre Dame, Remains Undefeated

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Cal's women's swimming and diving team remained undefeated, picking up the Golden Bears' fourth win of the season with a 156.5-141.5 victory at Notre Dame, Friday. Cal won nine events overall and set three Rolf's Aquatic Center records.
The meet came down to the final relay, when Cal's 400-yard freestyle relay team of senior Helen Silver, freshman Jessica Hardy, junior Lauren Andrews and sophomore Emily Silver touched the wall first. Cal finished in 3:27.08, ahead of Notre Dame's 3:28.80.
Emily Silver and Helen Silver led Cal with each sister posting two individual wins and a pool record. Emily placed first in the 200 free (1:48.79, pool record, NCAA B) and the 100 free (51.58). Helen Silver won both the 200 back (1:58.79, pool record, NCAA B) and the 100 back (56.30). Hardy also set a pool record with her win in the 200 breast (2:16.67, NCAA B).
Junior Annie Babicz and sophomore Rachel Ridgeway finished first for Cal in the 100 breast (1:04.08) and the 200 fly (2:02.83) respectively.
The Bears' 200 medley relay team of freshman Lauren Rogers, Hardy, Babicz and Andrews picked up Cal's final win (1:44.50).
