The No. 26 Golden Bears (3-2 overall) fell to No. 34 Arizona State, 4-3. The match originally began on Friday, Feb. 11, but was postponed due to poor weather. With the loss, the Bears fall to 3-2 overall.
Cal picked up the doubles point, sweeping all three matches. The No. 30 duo of Patrick Briaud and Conor Niland defeated Andy Colombo and Jonathan Kinsella, 8-3, on court one. Court two saw Daniel Sebescen and Tyler Browne beat Clinton Letcher and Mike Beatty, 8-5. John Pettit and Ken Nakahara completed the sweep on court three, defeating Ryan McBride and Christopher Biro, 8-4.
In singles play, the Bears scored wins on courts one and two. Niland defeated the Sun Devil's Colombo in straight sets, 6-1; 6-1. Sebescen came back from dropping the first set to Biro on court two, winning 3-6; 6-3; 6-4.
The Bears next face UC Santa Barbara, Sunday, Feb. 20 at 12:00 p.m. at Berkeley's Hellman Tennis Center.
