"Like I said yesterday, Ryan makes solid plays for us. He's pretty crafty and is able to spread the defense a little bit. More important, it's his 11 rebounds that make his coach happy. I can't emphasize enough how important rebounding is for this team. If we rebound, we can be a very good basketball team."

On Loyola Marymount, Cal's opponent in Saturday's final:
"LMU plays hard. I was very impressed with their team against Pacific tonight. We know they are a good basketball team. We are going to have to battle them, and we'll have to be up to the challenge.
