RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF. - The Cal men's golf team is in eighth place after the third round of the 2006 Pac-10 Championship, played at the Canyons Course of the Bighorn Golf Club (par 71, 7,009 yards) in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The Golden Bears shot their best round of the tournament Tuesday, finishing with a 365 after shooting a 371 and a 372 the first two rounds. Freshman George Gandranata continues to lead Cal, sitting in a tie for 16th, shooting his third consecutive round of 72 for a three-over 216.

The Bears' Michael Jensen played well Tuesday, shooting a 69 to sit in 23rd with a five-over 218 (74-75-69). Sophomore Freddy Wolfe is tied for 24th with a six-over 219 (74-72-73); freshman Romain Payet is tied for 47th with a 14-over 227 (77-75-75); freshman Larry Wong is tied for 56th with a 19-over 232 (75-81-76) and junior Michael Wilson is 58th with a 20-over 233 (76-78-79).

UCLA is leading the tournament with a six-under 1059 (349-348-362). The Bruins' Daniel Im is the current individual leader with a eight-under 205 (67-68-70).
