No. 14 California carded a score of 289 (+5) Sunday to propel the Golden Bears to a fifth-place showing at the Stanford Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears finished the three-day event with a 54-hole score of 890 (+38).
No. 4 Arizona State carded a team score of six-under 276 today to grab the 18-team tournament title at 10-over 862. No. 1 Duke, which led after the first two rounds, finished second at 866, followed by No. 1 UCLA (872) and No. 16 Arkansas (886).
No. 10 Georgia took sixth (896), and No. 8 Arizona finished seventh (897).
Sophomore Roseanne Niven paced Cal for the second straight tournament, finishing in a tie for 11th with a career-best 218 on a par-71 course. Niven shot a career-best round of three-under 68 today. She started and ended the day with a bogey and had 11 pars and five birdies in the middle.
Cal junior Allison Goodman tied for 19th at 221 following a round of 75. Goodman began the day at four-over on the front nine and finished at even par on the back nine. Freshman Pia Halbig carded a 73 today to tie for 21st (222). Halbig sank four birdies on the front nine. Junior Shannon Yocum also fired a 73 in the final round for Cal.
Arkansas' Stacy Lewis, who is ranked sixth in the nation, won the individual title at two-under 211. Arizona State's Jennifer Osborn was the runner-up at 212.
Cal wraps up the fall season at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Oct. 29-31.
