No. 5 Cal Women's Water Polo Defeats No. 19 Cal State Northridge, 10-7

NORTHRIDGE, CALIF. - The No. 5-ranked California women's water polo team broke a 6-6 halftime by outscoring No. 19-ranked Cal State Northridge, 4-1, in the second half on the way to a 10-7 victory Saturday afternoon at the Matador Pool in Northridge. The Golden Bears, who had balanced scoring with freshman Darby Anderson, sophomore Paige Lorenz, and junior Molly Hayes notching two goals apiece, improved their record to 10-9 overall and 6-5 in MPSF. The Matadors dropped to 12-17 and 0-10 in league.

After giving up six goals in the first two periods, Cal's defense stiffened, only allowing Cal State Northridge a single goal in the final two periods. Junior goalie Heather Stuart finished with three saves. Besides scores from Anderson, Hayes and Lorenz; freshmen Meghan Corso, Remy Champion, Erin Scully, and junior Vanessa Lindsey, also tallied scores for the Bears.

Cal will next host top-ranked Stanford in the Big Splash on Friday, Apr. 20 at 7 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex. It will be the Bears' final MPSF and regular season match before entering the MPSF Championship, Apr. 26-29, in Tempe, Ariz.
