The California Golden Bear women's golf team jumped up three spots to No. 16 after firing a second round 307 in the second day of the 2007 NCAA West Regional at the par 71, 6,234-yard Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club on Friday. After 36 holes of competition, Cal has carded a total team score of 628.

Oklahoma State leapfrogged Stanford to secure first place in the tournament after carding a second round 290. Stanford fell one spot with a second round 300, followed by Arizona State (296), UC Irvine (302) and Pepperdine (299).

Sophomore Allison Goodman continued to guide the Bears individually with a two-over 73 to land a tie for 14th place. Freshman Sofia Janer rebounded from a 13-over par on Thursday by carding a five-over 76 on the day. Freshman Christina Frick also bounced back from a 16-over par in the first round to score a four-over 75 on Friday.

Goodman, who started her round on the back nine, made par on her first four holes, before settling for a bogey on the par-three 14. Goodman remained steady and made par to close out the final four holes to stay at one-over thru nine. After opening back nine play with a bogey on the first hole, Goodman made par on holes two thru five, before connecting on a birdie shot on the par-four sixth.

Janer, who also began her second round on the back nine, carded a birdie on the par-five 11th to move to one-under after two holes. Janer remained one-under, until a bogey on 14 put her back at even par. Another two bogies mixed with a birdie on the 17th had Janer at one-over thru nine holes. Janer struggled a bit on the front nine, but did manage her third birdie make on the par-four second.

Frick began the round with a bogey on the par-four 10th, before nailing a birdie on the par-three 12th to fall back to even-par. Frick remained even over the next three holes before suffering a double bogey on the par-five 16 to move to two-over thru nine holes. Just like Janer, Frick had a couple of miscues on the front nine, but did manage to make birdie on the second hole, while connecting on par putts on holes five thru nine to conclude the round four-over.

The Bears will play their final 18 holes tomorrow with the tee time around 12:30 (MT). Fans can follow all of the tournament action live on www.golfstat.com.
