With the win, Cal improved to 5-0 on the year, giving Mike Montgomery the best start for a Bear coach in his first season since Rene Herrerias also went 5-0 to begin the 1960-61 campaign. Only Ben Cherrington, who started 11-0 in 1916-17, won more games before his first loss.

Jerome Randle made 4-for-5 three-pointers vs. UNLV to raise his season rate to 16-for-22 from behind the arc (72.7%).

As a team, the Bears were 7-for-10 on three-pointers to lift their NCAA-leading average to 60.7%.
