EUGENE, Ore. -
No. 15 California finished in third place at the Duck Invitational Tuesday at the Eugene Country Club. The Bears shot a 297 to climb from a tie for fourth to third with a 54-hole score of 912 (+48).
Oregon won the 14-team tournament with a score of 900, while UC Davis was second at 904. The Ducks shot the low team score of the day at 294.
Junior Shannon Yocum paced the Bears by placing third at three-over 219. Yocum shot a two-under 70 in the final round. This marks the second time this season that she has led the Bears at a tournament, with the other being a first-place showing at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in September. Yocum posted five birdies to earn her third top-10 result of 2007-08.
Cal freshman Pia Halbig tied for 12th at 227 on the strength of four birdies. Halbig shot bogey-free golf on the front nine and sank three of her birdies. Junior Allison Goodman tied for 21st for the Bears at 231 after a 77 in the final round.
Sophomore Roseanne Niven tied for 32nd at 235 and wrapped up the tournament with her low round of 77. Freshman Andrea Waters finished 75th (254).
Oregon's Kendra Little won the individual crown at two-under 214, and Washington State's Amy Eneroth was the runner-up at 218.
Cal returns to action at the PING/ASU Invitational April 4-6 in Tempe, Ariz.
