No. 5 California Drops Indiana, 12-3

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 5 California women's water polo team handily defeated Indiana, 12-3, in the second round of the Michigan Kickoff on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Bears scored four goals in both the first and final quarters to overpower the Hoosiers. Cal improves to 2-0 on the season.

The Bears shut out Indiana in the first period and scored four of their own goals. The Hoosiers got on the board in the second quarter with one goal while Cal tacked on two more scores.

Both squads scored twice in the third period to take an 8-3 score into the final period of regulation. Cal put four shots past the Indiana goalkeeper in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Junior Meghan Corso and sophomore Coral Kemp each scored three goals. Goalkeepers redshirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Peckham made 12 saves and senior Lauren Burke had four.

The Bears will close out their trip to Michigan on Sunday against Cal State Northridge.
