ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 5 California women's water polo earned its third win of the 2009 campaign with a 9-5 victory over No. 14 Cal State Northridge in the Michigan Kickoff on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Bears are now 3-0 after winning two games Saturday in the first day of the tournament.

Emily Csikos paced the Bears with three goals. Meghan Corso and Julie Oreglia each had two scores.

For the third game of the tournament, the Bears shut out their opponent in the first quarter. Cal scored thrice in the first period and four times in the second stanza to build a 7-1 lead in the first half.

The Matadors tacked on another goal of their own and held the Bears to a scoreless third period to bring the match to 7-2 at the close of three complete. CSUN scored three goals in the final quarter and the Bears had two of their own to finish the game victoriously.

Next up, the Bears will make the short trip to Santa Clara for the NorCal Cup on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
