No. 6 Cal Marches Past No. 18 Indiana, 8-1

SAN DIEGO - The No. 6 California women's water polo team end its weekend at the Aztec Invitational with a 8-1 win over No. 18 Indiana on Sunday morning. The Golden Bears are now 27-4 on the 2009 season.

"I thought we exhibited good team defense," California head coach Richard Corso said. "I was very proud that the team had a lot of great energy out there after a long weekend of tournament play."

The defense was instrumental in a successful first half for the Bears for the Hoosiers did not get one goal past Cal goalkeeper Stephanie Peckham, who ended the day with 14 saves. The Bear offense scored twice in each of the first eight minutes to take a 4-0 lead into the halftime break. Four goals in the fourth period sealed the nonconference victory.
