Bears Win Head of the Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA, CITY, Okla. - The California men's crew won the Head of the Oklahoma last weekend in Oklahoma City, Okla., defeating Harvard and Princeton in the process of capturing the title. The men's eight clocked a time of 11:50.08 to claim first place.

Harvard finished in second at 11:57.95 and Princeton took third (12:04.38).

Participating in the eight for the Bears were Chelsea Lucas (cox), Spencer Crowley, Samuel Walker, Matt Dignan, Calum Wright, Chris Yeager, Tord Sund, Nick Lucey and Goran Todorovic.

The Bears also defeated the Crimson a second time at the event in a 500m sprint. Cal placed second overall in the race, crossing the finish line at 1:19.50. USRowing OKC A won the event, edging past the Bears with a time of 1:19.00. Harvard came in fifth (1:22.70) and Princeton claimed sixth (1:23.00).

The next fall event for Cal is the Head of the Charles on Oct. 24 in Boston, Mass.
