Cal Rugby Homecoming Set for March 20

Feb. 25, 2010

BERKELEY - Alumni, families, fans and friends are invited to Witter Rugby Field for the 128th Homecoming of University of California rugby as the Golden Bears host Saint Mary's College on Saturday, March 20, at 1 p.m. with a reserve-grade match following the First XV.

Tickets sold at the gate, which opens at noon, are $8 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and free for Cal students and all youth 12th grade and below.

An alumni-organized reunion is being held for Cal's championship teams from 1996-2001. Players from those years should contact 2001 captain Shaun Paga at shaunpaga@gmail.com to register and RSVP for a Friday evening event.

There are no official events before or after the matches on Saturday, but early arrival to Witter Rugby Field is encouraged. A free shuttle from the Underhill parking lot will help to offset the loss of Witter parking lot on Centennial Drive due to ongoing renovations related to Memorial Stadium and the Student-Athlete High Performance Center.

The free shuttle will operate every 20 minutes beginning at 11 a.m. from the Underhill pay parking lot, which is bordered by Channing Way, Haste Street, College Avenue and Bowditch Street. The lot can be accessed via Channing or Haste.

Shuttle pickup will be on Channing in front of the lot's elevator.

Cal rugby looks forward to seeing everyone at Witter Rugby Field for this celebration.
