No. 3 Cal Women's Water Polo Shuts Out Marist, 11-0; Defeats Maryland, 14-1; at Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The No. 3-ranked Cal women's water polo team (18-5) shut out Marist, 11-0; and defeated Maryland, 14-1, Sunday, March 14 at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego. The Golden Bears finished the weekend 4-0 after defeating No. 14 San Diego State, 10-4, in a MPSF league match; and No. 20 Princeton, 13-4, in the first round of the Aztec Invitational on Saturday. In Cal's final match Sunday against the Terrapins, the Bears had eight different players score, including a team-high three apiece from senior Remy Champion and freshman Dana Ochsner.

Other top scorers for Cal against Maryland included seniors Meghan Corso and Camille Hewko with two goals apiece.

During the Sunday morning match against Marist, the Bears also utilized balanced scoring with six different players tallying goals. Cal was led by freshman Kirsten Mase's three goals; and two goals apiece from seniors Stephanie Schnugg and Hewko, and sophomore Emily Csikos.

Sophomore Jessica Robinson and freshman Breda Vosters also notched goals for the Bears.

The Bears conclude the Aztec Invitational outscoring their opponents, 48-9. Cal will next compete at the UOP Invitational March 20 in Stockton.
