No. 3 Cal Women's Water Polo Defeats No. 7 Loyola Marymount, 11-3, at Bronco Tournament

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. - The No.3-ranked California women's water polo team won its first match at the Bronco Tournament Sunday with an 11-3 victory over No. 7 Loyola Marymount at the Sullivan Aquatic Complex. Eight different Golden Bears scored a goal, led by sophomore Camille Hewko, who had three. Defensively, sophomore goalie Stephanie Peckham had seven saves, while limiting the Lions offense to only three goals. With the win, Cal improves its record to 22-5 on the season.

Loyola Marymount held an early advantage, leading 2-1 after the opening period. The Bears were able to score three goals in the second quarter, while shutting out the Lions, to take a 4-2 lead into halftime. Cal came out strong in the second half and outscored LMU 7-1.

The Bears will play No. 17 UCSD at 2:15 p.m. later on Sunday at the Bronco Tournament.
