STANFORD, Calif. - The California Golden Bears touched down 13 tries against a fiery Red Wolves team Friday at Steuber Rugby Stadium to advance to the national championship with their 83-37 victory over Arkansas State. Cal will face Brigham Young in Saturday's title match for the fifth straight year.

Center Colin Hawley had a hat trick while sophomore winger Anthony Lombardo and flanker Tom Rooke added two pairs as the Bears (25-0) earned their 26th trip to the championship game, where they have won the title match 24 times in 25 attempts - falling to BYU, 25-22, last season.

The Cal starting lineup included four underclassmen: sophomores Lombardo and No. 8 Danny Barrett, freshmen Brendan Daly at lock and Seamus Kelly at center. They were joined by replacement center Jared Braun, another freshman who came in for Hawley in the second half.

The Bears are likely to make multiple lineup changes to account for the short interval between the semi and final.

The Cougars (14-2) upended Army, 63-28, in the first semifinal on Friday with nine tries, including a hat trick from scrumhalf Shaun Davies, to set up another Cal-BYU championship battle.

"This is normally the time when I say we're happy to advance, but BYU looked unstoppable from what I saw today," said head coach Jack Clark. "It'll take everything we have to make a game of the championship match."
