ST. HELENA, Calif. - No. 123-ranked California men's tennis junior Nick Andrews came up with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Bruno Abdelnour of Illinois on the first day of round-robin play in the 2010 Land Rover Napa Valley Tennis Classic at Meadowood Resort.

Sophomore Carlos Cueto earned a second win among Golden Bears as he defeated USC's Raymond Sarmiento, 7-6, 7-6. Cueto claimed the first tiebreaker, 8-6, and the second-set tiebreaker, 7-4.

No. 122 sophomore Christoffer Konigsfeldt fell in two sets, 6-1, 6-3, to ninth-ranked Alexandre Lacroix of Florida and No. 17 senior Pedro Zerbini lost to USTA junior Mitchell Frank, 6-2, 6-7(3), 7-5.

Andrews and Konigsfeldt teamed up to defeat Johnny Hamui and Dennis Nevolo of Illinois in an afternoon doubles match, 8-4.

Day two of round-robin singles play begins at 10:30 a.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 25. The winner of the singles competition will receive a wild-card entry to a future USTA Pro Circuit event.
