No. 15 California One Stroke Back in Washington

SAMMAMISH, Wash. -
The No. 15 California Golden Bear women's golf team finished the first round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in a tie for second place, one stroke behind the leader. Senior Joanne Lee was in the top-five after shooting a one-over 73.
The Bears, who have won this tournament each of the last two years, turned in a first round score of 299 (+11), playing the par-72, 6,003-yard Sahalee Country Club course. Oregon State tops the leaderboard with a 298. The Bears are tied for second with Colorado.
Colorado's Alex Stewart leads the individuals after shooting a two-under 70 in the opening round.
Senior Joanne Lee was tied for fourth with a one-over 73. Lee, starting on the tenth hole, had a pair of birdies on 13 and then right before the turn on 18. Sophomore Nicola Rössler had three birdies en route to posting a 74 (+2), putting her in a tie for eighth place. Senior Emily Childs, who was the individual medalist at this event last year, had an up and down day, with five birdies, but she also had six bogeys and a double to end at +3 (75).
The Bears will tee off from the first hole in the second round, with the late tee times starting at 10:54. Live Scoring will be available through Golfstat.
