Rains Delay All-American Qualifying Tournament

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Inclement weather conditions forced the postponement of doubles qualifying matches at the 2011 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Tennis Championships on Wed., Oct. 5. The singles qualifying finals were played before rains arrived in Southern California forcing the delay of doubles matches.

Play resumes at the Riviera Tennis Club on Thursday (Oct. 6) with the second round of qualifying doubles matches at 9 a.m. PT. The final round of qualifying doubles matches will follow at 11 a.m. The top half of the main singles draw will begin at noon with the bottom half set for a 2 p.m. start. Main draw doubles matches will begin not before 3:30 p.m.

When they return to the court, juniors Tayler Davis and Annie Goransson will draw a familiar foe in the second round of doubles qualifying. The Golden Bears face UCLA's No. 21-ranked tandem of Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez for a chance to go to the third and final round.

No. 1-ranked and top-seeded senior Jana Juricova was the runner-up in the 2010 All-American Championship and looks to finish on top, this time around. Juricova and sophomore Anett Schutting form the 13th-ranked doubles team in the nation and are set to compete in the doubles main draw.
