California Falls in Dual Meet at Arizona State

The California Golden Bear women's gymnastics team fell 194.450-191.975 to the Arizona State Sun Devils in a dual meet in Tempe. Avery Gee had Cal's top score of the meet with a 9.825 on the floor.
Cal's top score came on the floor where the team compiled a 48.350. Senior Avery Gee finished third with a 9.825, the top score of the night for the Bears. Freshman Alicia Asturias earned a 9.775, one of two 9.775's she earned in the meet.
Asturias also scored a 9.775 for her vault, Cal's top mark in the event, putting her in second place. The mark was also a PR for Asturias and the top mark so far this season for a Cal gymnast on the vault. Sophomore Madisyn O'Brien earned a 9.650.
Sophomore Stina Olivere tied for third on the bars, earning a 9.750. Madisyn O'Brien earned a 9.650.
Cal closed out the meet on beam, earning a 48.125 team score on the event. Sophomore Nikki Lew tied for first on the beam with a 9.775. Madisyn O'Brien tied for third with a 9.750.
Cal had two gymnasts in the all-around. Alicia Asturias was second with a 38.700. Madisyn O'Brien was right behind her in third witha 38.650.
The Bears will be back in Northern California next weekend when they compete in a dual meet on Sunday, Feb. 20 at UC Davis. The action begins at 2 p.m.
