Bears Compete at SFSU Distance Carnival

A small contingent of Golden Bear track & field athletes competed at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival Friday.

Sophomore Matt Petersen led the effort with a PR performance in the 5000 meters. He placed 11th overall with a time of 14:48.97, more than four seconds ahead of his previous best in the event. Cal had five other runners in the men's 5K - Renaud Poizat (22nd, 14:56.07), J.P. Slater (34th, 15:12.35), Bob Reistenberg (35th, 15:12.95), Ethan Mark (38th, 15:18.04) and Andres Diaz (54th, 15:30.99).

Freshman Sarah Keddington had the highest placing of any Cal runner, taking eighth in the 1500 in 4:43.30.

Former Golden Bear and 2008 U.S. Olympic marathoner Magdalena Lewy-Boulet won the 10,000 meters in 33:16.11.
