STANFORD - Ray Stewart became the fifth fastest 110-meter hurdler in school history in his first outdoor appearance as a Golden Bear, and Angelica Weaver and Kristen Meister captured the 400 hurdles and high jump, respectively, to highlight Cal's first day at the Stanford Invitational.

Stewart, a transfer from Merritt College in Oakland, posted the top time in the prelims of the 110 hurdles, covering the distance in 13.72 seconds, matching his PR from his freshman year at Merritt. The hurdles final will be contested Saturday afternoon. Earlier this season, Stewart set a Cal indoor record in the 60-meter hurdles when he was timed in 7.77, and later won the 60 hurdles at the MPSF Indoor Championships.

Weaver won the 400 hurdles in 1:00.42, a third of a second off her PR, while Meister prevailed in the high jump with a clearance of 5-9.25.

Freshman Charnell Price placed third in the 100 meters in a wind-aided 11.75 seconds after running a wind-aided 11.81 in qualifying. Cherrelle Garrett also reached the final with a prelim time of 11.84w, but she false-started before the final race.

Rowena Tam took seventh in the 5000 meters in 16:35.22, only two seconds shy of joining Cal's all-time top 10 in the event, and Taylor Dutch ran 4:31.36 in the 1500, just one second behind her 4:30.32 PR effort at last year's Brutus Hamilton Invitational.

On the men's side, Steve Sodaro was second in section two of the 1500 in 3:47.69, and Cody Schmidt established a PR in section three of the 5000 with a time of 14:38.27.
