Holmqvist in Top-10 After Mason Rudolph first round
Sept. 23, 2011
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
Senior Daniela Holmqvist is in a tie for ninth place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview tournament in Franklin, Tenn. Holmqvist shot a one-over 73 to pace the Bears.
California, playing against some of the top teams in the nation at the par-72, 6,426 yard Vanderbilt Legends Club, ended the first round in 15th place in the field of 18 teams, turning in a 306 (+18). USC leads the field at +4 (292). Overall, the scores for all the teams were much higher today than recent Mason Rudolph Tournaments. The conditions in the morning were cool and the course played longer than usual. New Bermuda greens played a factor as well.
Senior Daniela Holmqvist birdied her third-to-last hole of the day, the par-5 seventh hole, to drop down to one-over, tying her for ninth place. Junior Joi Pentin, playing in her second consecutive tournament, had the next lowest round, coming in at +4 after landing a birdie on her final hole of the day, the par-4 ninth hole.
The three-day, 52 hole tournament will host the second round on Saturday, Sept. 24, followed by the final round on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Live Scoring is available through Golfstat. The Bears will once again tee off on the tenth hole, beginning at 8:49 a.m. local time on Saturday.
