CORVALLIS, Ore. - The California women's gymnastics team placed third in a tri-meet against No. 7 UCLA and No. 8 Oregon State Friday night inside Gill Gym in Corvallis, Ore. No. 7 UCLA and No. 8 Oregon State tied for first place with a score of 196.775, while the Golden Bears scored a 192.350.

Junior Mariesah Pierce was the Bears' lone all-arounder, scoring a 38.200 in the meet.

Cal (4-4, 0-4 Pac-12) scored its second-highest score of the season on the vault with a team total of 48.650. Junior Madisyn O'Brien and Pierce led the Bears in the event with identical scores of 9.775 to tie for 10th overall. Sophomore Dallas Crawford was right behind with a score of 9.750 and freshman Crystal Paz posted a score of 9.725 in the event. UCLA's Vanessa Zamarripa took the vault title with a score of 9.950.

Crawford led the Bears on the bars with a score of 9.825 to tie for eighth place overall, while junior Stina Olivere and sophomore Alicia Asturias each posted a score of 9.800 to tie for 12th in the event. O'Brien was right behind her teammates with a score of 9.775. UCLA's Aisha Gerber scored a 9.900 to win the bars title for the Bruins (7-1-1 overall, 3-1-1 Pac-12).

Pierce paced Cal on the balance beam with a score of 9.675 to finish 12th overall in the event, while senior Alex Leggitt and junior Nicolette Lew were right behind with a score of 9.650. Oregon State's Leslie Mak scored a 9.950 to capture the balance beam crown for the Beavers (6-0-1 overall, 3-0-1 Pac-12).

Asturias guided the Bears in the floor exercise with a score of 9.725 to place 12th overall, while Leggitt scored a 9.650 and Pierce finished with a 9.625 to place 13th and 14th in the event, respectively. Oregon State's Makayla Stambaugh placed first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.925.

Cal returns to action next Friday, Feb. 24, in San Jose, Calif. against San Jose State at 7 p.m.
