No. 8 Cal Advances to NCAA Team Finals

NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 8 California men's gymnastics team booked itself a ticket to the NCAA team finals by finishing third at Thursday evening's NCAA qualifiers. The Golden Bears notched a 351.150 to best Minnesota (343.350), Temple (339.450) and Air Force (333.750) and take third place.
Illinois won the session with a 356.250, ahead of second-place finisher Oklahoma (356.200).
The Bears - along with the Illini and Sooners - will take on Penn State, Stanford and Michigan on Friday in the NCAA team championship. That session is set to begin at 5 p.m. at OU's Lloyd Noble Center.
Dennis Mannhart won the all-around with a score of 85.550 and Donothan Bailey placed first on floor with a 15.100.
The Bears' third-place finish was due in no small part to their second-place finish on the high bar. Five Bears finished in the top-12, led by Jacob Jizrawi in second place with a score of 15.350. Bailey (15.000) and Glen Ishino (14.950) took fourth and fifth, respectively, while Mannhart (14.550) finished 10th and Nic Blair (14.250) took 12th.
On floor, the Bears finished third with a team score of 59.150. Bailey paced Cal with his first-place score of 15.100 and Ishino (15.000) claimed fifth place.
Matthew del Junco was the top performer for the Bears on pommel horse - finishing tied for seventh with a 14.550 - and helping to guide Cal to third place.
Steven Lacombe led the Bears with a 14.750, good for a tie for fourth place. Junior Jean Monteclaro tied for eighth with a score of 14.450.
Lacombe earned bronze on vault with his score of 15.150. Jeffrey Langenstein tied for fourth with a 15.100.
Parallel bars saw Mannhart take third with a 15.150. Jonathan Liu and Ishino tied for eighth, each earning scores of 14.850.
