CAL: Cross Country - Carballo enters his fourth season on the Cal team as a returning all-regional selection...selected the team's Most Valuable Performer in 2002...the Bears' top returning runner from the 2001 (56th, 33:12.8) and 2002 (21st, 31:21) NCAA West Regional...also in 2002, was the Bears' leader at Stanford (20th, 24:22) and Indiana State (25:11.7)...placed in the top 30 in all five of his races...led the Bears at the 2001 Pac-10 Championships (35th, 26:00.5) and at the Stanford Invitational, placing 18th (11:54) on the 4000m short course...earned second team Pac-10 All-Academic as a sophomore and junior in cross country...competed in two events as a freshman...his best finish was 18th (28:08.16) at the San Francisco State Invitational.
Track - In 2003 as a sophomore, clocked Cal's second-fastest times in the 5000m (14:41.79) and 10,000m (29:53.60)...as a redshirt freshman in 2002, ran the 1500m through 10,000m...finished 10th (31:49.45) in the 10K at the Pac-10 Championships...redshirted the 2001 season...a second team Pac-10 All-Academic selection in 2002 and an honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honoree in 2003.
High School: Finished seventh at the state Division II cross country championship at Cathedral City High School...1999 Desert Valley League cross country champion...1999 and 2000 3200m league champion...led his team to the 1999 league cross country title and to the 2000 track and field league crown.
