CROSS COUNTRY: Also a member of Cal's cross country team...started the 2002 season off strong, winning his first two races (20:13 at Berkeley Invitational; 21:11 at USF Invitational, on four mile courses)...ran the 10,000m course at the NCAA West Regional in 32:34...placed 22nd at the Pac-10 Championships on an 8,000m (24:44) course...a first team All-Academic Pac-10 pick.
AS A JUNIOR IN 2001-02: Placed 12th in the 3000mSC (9:20.15) and 19th in the 5000m (15:11.60) at the Pac-10 Championships...established 3000mSC PR, and Cal's best mark of the season, with a time of 8:56.65 at the Big Meet...that mark stands as the seventh-best in Cal history...had Cal's second-best season mark in the 3000m (8:29.91), with a fourth-place finish at the USC Invitational...a first team Pac-10 All-Academic selection.
AS A SOPHOMORE in 2000-01: Finished seventh in the 3000mSC at Pac-10s with a PR of 9:07.72...finished first at the UC Davis Invitational at 9:30.66...his time of 9:12.85 was good for third place at the Big Meet...also qualified for Pac-10s in the 5000m with a then-PR of 14:33.31...first team Pac-10 All-Academic pick.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 1999-2000: Competed in the 5000m as a rookie...posted a then-PR of 14:54.62 at the Big Meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Participated in track and field and cross country at Long Beach Polytechnic HS...helped lead his high school track team to the 1997 and 1998 state titles.
