Cal vs. Montana Postgame Notes

  • Cal won, 78-76, in double overtime, marking the Bears' first overtime contest of the year and first multiple OT game since falling to Arizona, 107-105, in three extra periods on Feb. 5, 2011. Overall, Cal has won its last three overtime games.
  • Tyrone Wallace scored a career-high-tying 22 points and added a career-best 15 rebounds for his He also posted his third double-double of the year (and second in a row). He has reached double figures in scoring in every game this year.
  • Jordan Mathews scored 13 points to extend his streak of double-figure games to 7. He didn't make his first bucket until 8:14 remained in the second half and he forced overtime with a three-pointer from the corner with 17 seconds to go in regulation.
  • Sophomore Sam Singer had his first career start in place of an injured Jabari Bird (foot). He finished with a career-high-tying 7 points and a career-best 3 steals.
  • In addition, freshman guard Brandon Chauca played in his first game as a Bears. He made his first two shots – both three-pointers – and finished with 8 points and 6 assists.
  • With 7 rebounds, David Kravish maintained his 10th place position on Cal's all-time list, now with 729 career boards. Next on the list is Bill McClintock, who had 740 rebounds from 1959-61.
  • David Kravish continued his pursuit of the Cal career blocks record. With 2 tonight vs. Montana, he improved his total to 193, which ranks No. 2 in school history. Michael Stewart set the mark of 207 from 1994-97.
  • With 14 points, David Kravish moved closer to becoming the 42nd Cal player to reach 1,000 points. Adding in tonight's effort, he now has 980 points in his career.
  • Cal committed a season-high 22 turnovers and allowed an opponent to shoot over 40 percent from the floor for the first time this year (42.6%).
  • Cal is now 5-0 when allowing fewer than 60 points and 1-1 when giving up 60 or more.
  • Among the Cal basketball alumni in attendance were Ryan Anderson (2007-08), now with the New Orleans Pelicans, and Omar Wilkes (2006-07).
