No. 4 Cal Pushes Past No. 7 UCSB, 9-6

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - In a match that featured contributions from several Bears, the No. 4-ranked Cal men's water polo team upended No. 7-ranked UC Santa Barbara, 9-6, Sunday morning at the Triton Invitational in San Diego.

Senior goalie Jon Sibley was one of Kirk Everist's leaders on defense with 13 saves, while offensively the Golden Bears had a balanced attach with freshman Luca Cupido and sophomore Thomas Carroll finishing with two goals apiece.

Other scorers included seniors Blake Kelly and Luka Ivanovic, junior Colin Mulcahy and freshman Conor Neumann. Mulcahy, a two-time honorable mention All-American, had a pair of assists, while senior Aleksa Saponjic scored a goal and paced Cal with four assists.

Cal is now 3-0 in the Triton Invitational. The Bears defeated Air Force, 19-10, and host UC San Diego, 16-8, on Saturday. Cal next faces La Verne to wrap-up Sunday's competition in San Diego.
