California-Washington Postgame Notes

California-Washington Postgame Notes

  • With tonight's 81-75 win over No. 21 Washington, Cal leads the all-time series, 81-78.
  • Cal is now 2-2 vs. ranked teams this season, defeating then-No. 23 Syracuse, 73-59, but falling to then-No. 10 Texas, 71-55, and then-No. 6 Wisconsin, 68-56.
  • David Kravish scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the year (and in a row). The 21 points topped his previous best of 19 reached multiple times, most recently vs. Texas on Nov. 21.
  • With the 21 points, Kravish moved up to 38th on Cal's career scoring list, now with 1,052 points. He passed Monty Buckley (1992-95, 1,035), Mark McNamara (1981-82, 1,041), Bill Hagler (1949-51, 1,042) and Michael Pitts (1980-84, 1,044) against Washington. Next up on the chart is No. 37 Amit Tamir, who finished with 1,055 points from 2002-04.
  • With 10 rebounds, Kravish increased his career total to 774, which ranks 8th on Cal's all-time last. The 10 boards matched a season high (also vs. Bakersfield last Monday).
  • Jordan Mathews scored 21 of his 31 points in the second half – a season high that bettered the 22 he had vs. Syracuse earlier this year. His career best is 32 points at Oregon in January 2014. Mathews was 8-14 from the floor (5-8 on 3-pointers) and 10-12 from the free throw line. It was the first 30-point game for a Cal player since Mathews' effort in Eugene.
  • Tyrone Wallace tied his career high with 4 steals. He also extended his streak of scoring in double figures to all 14 games this year with 19 points – 15 of his points came after halftime. Just 4-for-20 from the field, he was 11-for-12 from the line.
  • After shooting just 31.6% from the field in the first half (12-38), the Bears shot 60.9% after the break (14-23).
  • Cal finished with 4 turnovers, two in each half. The Bears entered the game averaging 10.6 turnovers per game – best in the Pac-12.
