California-Arizona State Postgame Notes

  • With its 79-44 win, ASU now leads the series, 39-37.
  • With a deficit of 35 points, the 79-44 final marked the third worst home loss in school history. The Bears fell to Arizona State, 91-55 (36 points), in 1979 and UCLA, 103-66, (37) in 1967.
  • The 79 points scored by ASU was a high for a Cal opponent this season.
  • Jabari Bird, who missed 10 games with a foot injury before returning as a reserve two games ago, started for the first time since Nov. 30 vs. Fresno State.
  • Dwight Tarwater earned his first start for Cal.
  • Kingsley Okoroh and Jabari Bird matched their career highs with two blocks apiece.
