SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Shotaro Ban was in second place three shots off the lead when play was suspended due to darkness during second round action Saturday at the Western Intercollegiate. Ban fired an opening round two-under par 68 and was one-under par through the first 15 holes of his second round. He is three shots behind current leader Scottie Scheffler of Texas, who finished all 36 holes Saturday at six-under par with rounds of four-under par 66 and two-under par 68.

Cal is in 10th place at 39-over par with four of the six golfers in its lineup completing both rounds Saturday as Ban and KK Limbhasut still have three holes to play.

Stanford (354-353 – 707, +7) and Texas (346-366 – 712, +12) both had all of their players complete two rounds on Saturday and were the top teams on the leaderboard when play was suspended.

Alexander Wilson (72-72 – 144, +4), Sebastian Crampton (72-80 – 152, +12), Keelan Kilpatrick (75-78 – 153, +13) and Cameron Shaw (77-80 – 157, +17) were the four players in Cal's lineup to complete both of their rounds. Wilson is tied for 22nd with Crampton tied for 64th, Kilpatrick tied for 71st and Shaw tied for 81st. Limbhasut is tied for 78th at 15-over after his first 33 holes of the event.

Ben Doyle (72-73 – 145) and Clayton Madey (80-73 – 153, +13) are tied for 25th and tied for 71st competing as individuals.

Action begins Sunday at 7:30 a.m. PDT when 22 players return to the position they were on the course when second-round action was suspended Saturday. At the conclusion of the second round, the field will be repaired for the third and final round which is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. PDT.
