Michael Kim Earns PGA TOUR Card
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Former Cal golfer Michael Kim secured his PGA TOUR card for the 2015-16 season on Sunday when he finished the regular season of the Web.com Tour in 13th place on the money list with earnings of $190,243. The first 25 players on the list secured half of the 50 available 2015-16 PGA TOUR cards with another 25 on the line at the four-event Web.com Tour finals which begin next Thursday with the Hotel Fitness Championship.
Kim recorded his fifth top-10 finish of the 2015 Web.com Tour season on Sunday with an eighth-place finish at the WinCo Foods Portland Open. Each of Kim's five top-10 showings came over the last 10 events of the 20 regular-season tournaments he played in with his top finish of the season a tie for third place at the Rust-Oleum Championship in June.
Kim was Cal's first National Player of the Year and one of five All-Americans on the Golden Bears' 2012-13 team that set a single-season NCAA record with 12 stroke-play victories, won the first NCAA Regional and Pac-12 titles in school history, and had such a dominant campaign that they were ranked No. 1 in every national poll following the season despite being upset by Illinois in the semifinals of the NCAA Championship.
