BERKELEY – California's Marthe Wold added another offseason victory for the Golden Bears women's golfers after the sophomore claimed individual medalist honors at the Norwegian Individual Championships (Norgesmesterskapet) held at the Borre Golfklubb in Horten, Norway.

Wold shot an 8-under 284 (71-74-69-70) at the 72-hole tournament to earn her first Norway Individual Championship, besting runner up Renate Grimstad by eight strokes to take the commanding victory. The Norgesmesterskapet are held every year in a large variety of sports to name the Norwegian Champion.

Wold held at least a share of the lead after all four rounds, beginning the tournament with a 2-under 71 before sitting tied for first when the cut was made at the halfway point with a 1-under 145. The Golden Bear then put the tournament out of reach by posting her first career bogey-less round with a 4-under 69 in the third that saw her hit four birdies and 14 pars. Her 69 was the first round under 70 at the tournament and one of just two shot over the course of the four days.

She then cemented her first career Norwegian title by carding a 3-under 70 in the final round. Drama attempted to find its way to the course in the form of a double-bogey by Wold on the par-4 3rd hole as well as a nearly three hour weather delay, but Wold carded five birdies on her next nine holes to put her lead out of reach of Grimstad and defending champion Mariell Bruun.

“I was nervous at the start of the round, but I calmed dawn as soon as I made my first birdie,” Wold said after the win that saw her shoot a tournament-best six birdies in the final round.

For the Golden Bears in 2014-15, Wold finished with a scoring average of 75.6 and was Cal's leader with 10 rounds of par or better on the year. She earned top 10 finishes at the BYU Entrada Classic and the Pac-12 Championships where she placed ninth with an even 213 to become the top placing freshman at the conference championship. Her placement made her the first Golden Bear freshman to earn a atop 10 finish at the conference championship since the 2008 season.
