TIBURON, Calif. ? California's Andre Goransson took on Henri Laaksonen in the opening round of 32 at the $100,000 Wells Fargo Tiburon Challenger on Tuesday, but the Swede fell to the Swiss pro player, 6-2, 6-4, at the Tiburon Peninsula Club.

On Wednesday, Goransson and fellow Cal junior Florian Lakat will play in the doubles main draw opening round of 16 against the pair of Denise Kudla from the United States and Germany's Dustin Brown.

The two Bears are coming off strong performances at the recent Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco, where Goransson won the singles title and teamed with Lakat to capture the doubles crown.
