LOS ANGELES - Freshmen Amy Bilquist and Kathleen Baker each won two races but the No. 3 Cal women's swimming & diving team fell to No. 7 USC 153-147 at Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Friday night.

Baker won the 500 free in the fastest time by a Cal swimmer this season, completing the race in 4:45.49. She also took home the 100 back with a mark of 52.95.

Bilquist, meanwhile, won a pair of events for the third consecutive dual meet, winning the 200 free in a time of 1:47.12 and the 200 back by clocking in at 1:55.86.

The meet went back and forth the entire evening. The Bears entered the final event of the night – the 200 free relay – with a slim lead, but the Trojans won it to go back in front for the close victory.

“It was a lot of fun,” Cal coach Teri McKeever said. “It was back and forth the whole way. I'm really proud of them, and I'm looking forward to what will happen tomomrrow.”

The Bears (5-1, 4-1 Pac-12), who dropped their first dual meet of the season Friday, are back in the pool Saturday with a dual meet at No. 19 UCLA. The meet begins at Noon.

Other Cal winners Friday included senior Kelly Naze in the 200 butterfly (1:56.23), junior Farida Osman in the 50 free (22.51) and sophomore Noemie Thomas in the 100 butterfly (52.25). Senior Sara-Lina Boushakra won the 3-meter diving event, scoring a season-high 286.35.
