STANFORD, Calif. – California's Karla Popovic won in singles and – with Olivia Hauger – in doubles at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Stadium on Sunday to reach both Monday semifinals at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships presented by Oracle. One main draw doubles semifinal will feature a Cal vs. Cal clash, as the seventh-seeded Popovic and Hauger face top-seeded and third-ranked Cal seniors Maegan Manasse and Denise Starr at 1 p.m. on the Farm.
 
Popovic, a Golden Bear junior, and her sophomore teammate won twice Sunday, edging San Jose State's Marine Dans and Gaelle Ray, 8-7(4), and then beating Kareena Manji and Danielle McIntyre of Saint Mary's, 8-3, to earn the semifinal berth opposite their teammates. Starr and Manasse – who reached the NCAA doubles final last May – knocked off Jana McCord and Jacqueline Pelletier of Saint Mary's, 8-3, before topping Oregon's Julia Eshet and Marlou Kluiving, 8-5, to in the quarterfinals.
 
In main draw singles, Popovic – seeded fifth and ranked 90th – bested the ninth-seeded Katerina Stloukalova of Fresno State, 6-1, 6-3, to reach the semis. The Zabok, Croatia, product – who hasn't lost a set in singles this tournament – extended her season singles record to 18-0.
 
The main draw singles and doubles champions of the regional – which ends on Tuesday – qualify for the upcoming USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing Meadows, New York.
