BURLINGAME, Calif. – California's Andre Goransson outlasted pro player Jan Choinski on Thursday at the Broadway Tennis Center Futures to move into the singles quarterfinals on the indoor courts at the BTC.

The big Swede served up two aces and won seven of 10 break points to beat his German opponent, 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-4, in the round of 16 at the USTA Pro Circuit event.

Cal seniors Filip Bergevi and Florian Lakat were scheduled to play the third-seeded pair of Sam Barry and Peter Kobelt in the doubles semifinals on Thursday. But the Golden Bears withdrew from the match due to injury.

Goransson, also a senior, will face another pro player in Mico Santiago in the singles quarterfinals not before 11 a.m. on Friday at the Broadway Tennis Center.
