CORVALLIS, Ore. – Celina Li, Marina Garcia and Amy Bilquist won two events apiece as the Cal women's swim team opened its 2016-17 dual season with a sweep of Oregon State, taking the meet, 163-88.

The Golden Bears claimed victory in all 14 races, which included first-place showing by three freshmen – Chenoa Devine in the 1000-yard free, Maddie Murphy in the 100-yard butterfly and Keaton Blovad in the 200-yard individual medley.

Devine completed her 1000 free in 10:02.12, more than a minute ahead of her nearest challenger. Murphy won the 100 fly in 54.55, while Blovad took the final individual event, the 200 IM, in 2:04.63.

"I was really proud of how the team performed after a long day with travel," head coach Teri McKeever said. "I thought they really raced tough and stayed focused on our journey and what we were committed to. It was particularly exciting to see the freshmen do so well. We're looking forward to a training session in the morning and then watching the Bears (football team vs. Oregon State) tomorrow evening."

Li's triumphs came in the 100 free (51.19) and 500 free (4:56.82), with Garcia earning victories in both breaststrokes (100 breast – 1:04.39; 200 breast – 2:18.09) and Bilquist being a double-backstroke winner (100 back – 54.07; 200 back – 1:56.21).

Others to come out on top in their events were Kristen Vredeveld in the 200 free (1:50.57) and Katie McLaughlin in the 200 fly (1:59.14).

Cal also earned wins in both relays. McLaughlin, Li, Bilquist and Aislinn Light opened the meet by taking the 400 medley relay in 3:48.19, and McLaughlin, Valerie Hull, Bilquist and Jasmine Mau closed the night with a win in the 200 free relay in 1:32.43.

The Bears have a week off from competition before hosting their home opener vs. Washington State at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at Spieker Aquatics Center.
