With today's California 83-63 win over Oregon, the Golden Bears improved to 15-0 at Haas Pavilion this season, and are enjoying a 16-game home winning streak dating back to last season. The home winning streak is tied for fourth longest in school history. Cal improved to 6-0 on the home court in Pac-12 play this season. The last time the Bears won their first six conference home games was in the 2002-03 season when they won their first seven.
The win also marked Cal's third victory over a top-25 team this season (No. 21/22 Utah, No. 11/12 Arizona). The Bears are 3-1 against ranked teams this year. The last time Cal beat three ranked teams in a season was in 2012-13 (10/12 Oregon, 7/7 Arizona, 23/23 Oregon).
Tonight's win marked Cal's fifth 20-point win this season. Cal also shot a season-high 55.7 from the field.
The Bears started the game on a 12-2 run in the game's first three minutes, which turned into an 18-6 run led by three treys from Jabari Bird. Cal led by as many as 21 in the first half and 25 in the second half. Since the 14:04 mark in the first half, Cal led by double digits the rest of the contest.
Cal hit the 40-point mark in the first half for the eighth time this year with its 42 points in the opening half tonight.
Four Bears reached double figures in scoring, led by 24 from Bird, which tied his career high. The other double figure scorers were Jaylen Brown (16), Ivan Rabb (13) and Tyrone Wallace (10).
Bird notched his fifth career 20-point performance. Tonight was Bird's seventh game this season of making at least three three-pointers, second making four and his first making five, one shy of his career high. In his last two games, he has shot 8-for-13 from behind the arc.
After totaling a then-career-high nine assists last week vs. Stanford, Sam Singer notched a career high for the second straight game with 11 tonight. The team total of 20 assists were the most on Pac-12 play this year, one shy of the overall season-high total.
With six points, Jordan Mathews increased his career total to 1,059, which moved him up to 39th place on Cal's all-time scoring list, surpassing Amit Tamir's (2002-04) 1,055 points. Larry Friend (1955-57) is 38th with 1,061, Kevin Singleton (1977-81) is 37th with 1,068 and Ed Gray (1996-97) is 36th with 1,082.
Brown moved up the ranks on Cal's freshman scoring list, now with 379 points, he passed Jason Kidd for seventh on the list. Rabb moved up to eighth place on the Cal freshman rebounding list, now with 200 this season.
Wallace returned to action after missing the previous five games with a broken bone in his right hand. With his 10 points, he now has 1,484, which ranks 11th on Cal's career scoring list.
With two blocks tonight, Rabb increased his team lead to 31 on the year.
The Bears improved to 84-57 in the all-time series against Oregon.
