Cal Tied For Third At Cabo Collegiate

LOS CABOS, MEXICO – Cal (281, -3) is tied for third after the first round of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate played at par-71, 6928-yard Los Cabos Querencia golf course. The Golden Bears are seven strokes behind first-round leader South Florida (274, -10) while Baylor (275, -9) is one shot off the lead and Georgia (281, -3) tied with Cal. The four teams are the only ones under par after 18 holes of the event co-hosted by Arkansas and Houston.

All five players in the Cal lineup were within a single stroke of each other Sunday. Collin Morikawa, Sebastian Crampton and Cameron Shaw each had one-under par rounds of 70 to tie for 16th, while KK Limbhasut and Shotaro Ban both shot even-par rounds of 71 to tie for 25th.

Rice's Mario Carmona is the first-round leader after firing a five-under par 66 on his first 18 holes.

The 54-hole event continues with the second 18 holes Monday (9 am MT/8 am PT) before wrapping up with the third and final round Tuesday (8 am MT/7 am PT). Both are shotgun starts. Cal will play in five foursomes with South Florida, Baylor and Georgia during second-round action with third-round pairings still to be determined.
